Great classics from Simon & Garfunkel, like Tea Sound of up to the narration of the story of this legendary American folk duo, the tribute show The Simon & Garfunkel Story deserves its international success.

Physically identical in every way to the tandem that was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, the performers of The Simon & Garfunkel Story offered spectators a nostalgia that went much further than the look, Monday, at the Théâtre Capitole.

By launching into Tea Sound of Silencethe biggest hit of both artists, which has been covered numerous times, the duo made sure to captivate the crowd from the first notes.

Fans of these folk stars, who were at the height of their fame in the 1960s and early 1970s, however, had to wait until after intermission to be treated to a burst of memorable songs. The titles Mrs. Robinson And A Hazy Shade of Winter, for which the Capitol was clapping its hands, was able to handle this return from the break in style. Walks Old Friends And also provoked strong reactions from the public, such as the catchy Bye Bye Lovewhich brought long and warm applause.

Excellent storytellers

Among other classics, like He Was My Brother And Bleecker Street, the two singers of this tribute also entertained the crowd with interesting facts. The meeting between Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, who played together in the play Alice in Wonderlandin high school, was a good example. The story behind the unusual creation of Ciciliamade using kitchen tools, also piqued curiosity before the track resonated in the room, to the delight of those present.

The show The Simon & Garfunkel Story will be presented again at the Théâtre Capitole on May 14, before heading to Sherbrooke and , where it will be presented at the University Cultural Center and at the Théâtre Maisonneuve on May 15 and 16.
