When I was like ten years old, my mom came up to me and said she got an email from the AOL team because someone had reported me for calling them a "Donkey Raping Shit Eater." I can see why my parents didn't want us to see that movie.

It's wild how much the show has evolved.
Crudely animated dick and fart jokes on top of celebrity mocking in standalone episodes with little to no meaningful continuity, to beautifully animated biting social and political commentary and satire in season long narratives.

I will never forget watching this at 11 when my friend stole his brother’s VHS. One of the best parts was we figured out we could turn on closed captions and it said what Kenny was saying.

Regal is showing it in theaters in a Sing Along format in June. I'm only putting that on blast because I want it to do very well so that it's not just me and my friend in the theater being idiots. I want a room full of idiots.

They're re-releaseing it in theaters! I think it's even a singalong version with captions for the songs

Funny story: I was younger and convinced my religious mother to take me and my cousins to see it in theaters. Within the first 5 minutes of the movie, Kenny dies and goes to heaven and what does he see? All the angels have their tits out. My mom flipped, took us home immediately and I got my ass whooped. lol. Good times.
Even before it gets to that scene you have to watch “Terrance and Phillip: Asses of Fire” - something tells me your mom probably flipped around the time Terrence calls Phillip a pig fucker

I saw it twice in 8 hours, with two different groups of friends.

The original title was "All Hell Breaks Loose", and they were more concerned with the word "Hell". Go figure.
I recall this coming up in an interview with either Trey Parker or Matt Stone, and they said they had read that too but it wasn't true, but now I can't find that
Yeah it doesn’t make a lot of sense for the MPAA to object to the word Hell here given the Hellraiser franchise or films like Motel Hell.

If that’s true then they themselves made it up in the first the first place. They tell that story on the DVD commentary and I think on the commentary for season 3 or 4 (I can’t remember which but I listen to those all the time).

M&T’s general strategy was that whenever a joke was rejected they would go back and escalate the joke until it got approved. They genuinely hate the MPAA. On Conan once they showed a clip that had to be edited and they were visibly really angry after it aired.
Same with The Fractured But Whole. It was initially called The Butthole of Time. Ubisoft rejected it saying retailer would never stock it.

TIL the slogan of this movie was an innuendo for a big long uncut dick. As someone who was a kid when this came out it went completely over my head. I get many more jokes as a 32 year old now but it never dawned on me the title itself was an innuendo. I think I need time to process this..

Satan in an abusive relationship with Saddam Hussein had me dying from laughter
I’ll never forget my dad having to get up and leave the theater after the first Saddam/Satan scene, straight up could not breathe through how hard he was laughing. We all figured he was gonna hate the movie and he ended up talking about it all summer.
I remember going to the movies to see this as I dont remeber a 12 or 13 yo with my dad and remember a ton of people walking out not even halfway through. It was odd like you saw South Park in the title, did you not know what you were in for when you bought tickets?

Yeah and then I remember when Clerks 2 came out like a decade or so later, Kevin Smith touted it as an accomplishment that they "beat the South Park guys" for F bombs. Feels quaint as hell honestly.
Blame Canada was nominated for best song Oscar....lost to the Phil Collins song You'll be in Heart from the Tarzan movie. Which is a great song. Always cracks me up thinking of people comparing the two songs like 🤔
