Summary
Wes Ball's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is driven by exceptional performances from its exciting and talented cast. Continuing the universe that was set out in Matt Reeves’ reboot trilogy, the new Planet of the Apes installment acts as a sequel to those films, even though its story will follow a new central ape. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner trilogy) and written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. Reeves’ original Planet of the Apes trilogy chronicled the ongoing battle between humans and apes over control of the planet. It followed the apes’ leader Caesar as he fought the oppressive humans to protect his species and their homes. Though Ball’s upcoming sequel tells a different story, the events of Reeves’ trilogy will strongly influence the universe in which it takes place.
