South Carbon continues to lead the 2024 Senior Games

It was the final day of the first week of competition in the 2024 Carbon County Senior Games and South Carbon County seniors continues to lead.

After four days of competition, Lehighton and Palmerton have a combined score of 426.

But North Carbon County seniors, made up of Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly, are hanging in there with a combined score of 258.

Friday’s events included bowling.

Bowling

Men’s results by age group:

• 60 to 64: Rich DeCray of Lehighton, gold; Ed Klementovic of Jim Thorpe, silver.

• 65 to 69: Randy Kresge of Palmerton, gold; Dave Getz of Jim Thorpe, silver; and Jerry Reed of Lehighton, bronze.

• 70 to 74: George Mathews of Panther Valley, gold; Ed Hill of Lehighton, silver; and Bruce Frisch of Lehighton, bronze.

• 75 to 79: Duane Costenbader of Palmerton, gold; Bill Murtoff of Palmerton, silver; and Larry Williams of Lehighton, bronze.

• 80 to 84: Jack Stranger of Lehighton, gold; James Laverick of Jim Thorpe, silver; and William Gallagher of Palmerton, bronze.

• 85 to 89: Ron Bowman of Lehighton, gold; and Reuben Zellner of Lehighton, silver.

Women’s results by age:

• 60 to 64: Kathy Zanders of Lehighton, gold; Lois Kuba of Panther Valley, silver; and Abbie Guardiani of Panther Valley, bronze.

• 65 to 69: Mary Wagner of Lehighton, gold; Debra Reed of Lehighton, silver; and Sue Wagner of Palmerton, bronze.

• 70 to 74: Sandy Weaver of Lehighton, gold; Louise Koons of Palmerton, silver; and Lynette Moyer of Palmerton, bronze.

• 75 to 79: Carol Costenbader of Palmerton, gold; Ruth Holden of Palmerton, silver; and Sofia Mathews of Panther Valley, bronze.
