After announcing a "reimagined" relaunch of the beloved 1990s series Witchblade, Top Cow / Image Comics is sharing a thrilling new trailer for the 2024 series. Screen Rant can exclusively reveal Top Cow's new Witchblade trailer featuring co-creator Marc Silvestri, series writer Marguerite Bennett, and a lot of action-packed new art.

Launching July 17th, 2024, Witchblade #1 by Bennett and Giuseppe Cafaro is a brand-new take on a beloved '90s property, updated for the contemporary moment. Top Cow's Witchblade trailer reveals just why fans should be excited about the relaunch, as it explores just who Sara Pezzini is, digs into Bennett's connections to the character and world, and of course shares some art and covers ahead of the first issue.

If this trailer is anything to go by, the new Witchblade will stay true to the original series' urban fantasy roots while taking a deep dive into Sara's motivations and character. With Silvestri's seal of approval, 2024's Witchblade is already set to be the perfect jumping-on point for new readers of this fan-favorite story.

In Witchblade #1, New York City Police Detective Sara Pezzini's life was forever fractured by her father's murder. Cold, cunning, and hellbent on revenge, Sara now stalks a vicious criminal cabal beneath the city, where an ancient power collides and transforms her into something wild, magnificent, and beyond her darkest imaginings. How will Sara use this ancient power, or will she be consumed by it?

Announced earlier this year to great excitement among fans, Witchblade #1 serves as a true relaunch of the beloved and long-running original series, which played a major role in the so-called "Image Revolution" of the 1990s. Starring the multifaceted "vigilante" character Sara Pezzini, the series — new and old — embraces the grittiness of urban fantasy, as it's set in the rainy streets of New York City. When Sara is granted intense and fantastical powers, her world and mission are turned upside down. As Bennett teases in the trailer, these powers will have massive consequences for her conflicts — both among others and within herself.

The original Witchblade #1 by David Wohl, Brian Haberlin, Christina Z., Michael Turner, D-Tron, JD Smith, and Nathan Cabrera hit stands in 1995. The series reached countless readers and fans over its long run, eventually concluding in 2015 with Witchblade #185 by Ron Marz, Matt Hawkins, Marc Silvestri, Stjepan Šejić, Keu Cha, Nelson Blake II, Michael Turner, Brian Ching, Randy Green, Abhishek Malsuni, Linda Šejić, Isaac Goodhart, and many more.

After the original Witchblade concluded after twenty consecutive years on the stands — an almost unthinkable run for an independent series by today's standards — Top Cow briefly revived the concept with a new main character in 2017. 2024's Witchblade, however, is a true relaunch — perhaps better thought of, in comics lingo, as a "reboot," as Bennett and Cafaro's series will take the familiar characters and plot of the '90s Image series and give them new shape with updated concepts, characters, and conflicts. For new fans hoping to dip their toes into Witchblade's world, this new #1 will be the perfect entry point, and the trailer makes it seem all the more thrilling.

Witchblade's 2024 Relaunch Will Be Perfect for Fans New and Old
