Margareta of Romania and her sister, Princess Sofia, had the pleasure of meeting their cousin, Princess Anne de Ligne, during her visit to Bucharest. Princess Anne was accompanied by her husband, the knight Charles de Fabribeckers de Cortils and Grace.

Princess Anne de Ligne and her husband meet the daughters of King Michael I in Bucharest
Her Majesty Margareta, Guardian of the Crown of Romania, received her cousin in audience, at the Elisabeta Palace in Bucharest, on May 7, 2024. Princess Anne de Ligne had made the trip with her husband, the knight Charles de Fabribeckers de Cortils and Grace . Margareta was accompanied by her husband, Prince Consort Radu, and her sister, Princess Sofia.

During this family visit, there was an exchange of gifts. Princess Sofia, who is a professional photographer, took the opportunity to give a copy of her book on Romanian monasteries to her cousin.

Family reunions that revive Bourbon-Parma ties
During this meeting the diplomat and former ambassador Corrado Pirzio-Biroli was also present with his wife Cécile. Ambassador Corrado Pirzio-Biroli did not come empty-handed either. He offered an example from his book “Grand Admiral von Tirpitz, my grandfather”to the Crown Keeper.

Margareta of Romania is the eldest daughter of King Michael I and Queen Anne. His sister Sofia is the fourth of five daughters of the last Romanian sovereigns. Queen Anne was born Princess of Bourbon-Parma, granddaughter of Robert I, the last sovereign of the Duchy of Parma. One of Robert I’s many children, Prince Félix, married Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg, grandmother of the current Luxembourg sovereign. His youngest daughter, Princess Alix, married Prince Antoine de Ligne, 13th Prince de Ligne. Alix and Antoine were the parents of the current 14th Prince de Ligne and Princess Anne de Ligne.

Princess Anne de Ligne is an engineer by training. She is passionate about defending the environment and is involved with several international organizations. Princess Anne also has a passion for the study of spiritualities and is familiar with dowsing and hypnotherapy. She is the author of several works on spirituality which she signs under the pen name Anne Deligné.
