Designing with Nature for People and Planet
The Glen Lake Garden Club will host a program about native landscape design on Tuesday, May 21. Wes Landon, ASLA, and principal of Native Edge in Grand Rapids, will present “Designing with Nature for People + Planet” at 1:00 pm at the Glen Arbor Township Hall, 6394 Western Avenue (M-22). Free parking is located behind the township hall. The program is free and open to the public.
Native Edge is a landscape architectural design firm specializing in ecologically inspired designs for a wide range of projects from private homes to downtown plazas. Recognized for his expertise, Landon’s projects aim to create resilient natural environments which serve both people and nature. His talk will illustrate how such planning can organize and bring a vision to life for the home, business or community outdoor spaces.
The Glen Lake Garden Club has served the area for over 45 years with numerous beautification projects that include annual summer plantings throughout Glen Arbor, the outdoor spaces at the Glen Lake Community Library in Empire, MDOT highway clean up, maintaining the prairie garden at the Old Settler's Park in Maple City, invasive plant awareness, and decorating the Carl Olson Bridge for the holidays.
