Is a very comfortable way to drink daily when you are too busy for a gaiwan or teapot

It’s not bad, as long as it’s in an infuser

There are some kinds of tea that do fine staying in a thermos several hours, and sometimes even improve when brewed like that. I've had good luck with shou puer, aged white, some Taiwanese oolongs, and even some particularly mild and sweet Chinese black teas.

true, i find it a bit annoying having to remove the infuser as it’s usually wet and dripping

There’s ones with chains on them to pull out as to not have to touch it

I used to when I had to go into the office and wanted to drink tea on the train or bus in. I steeped it before I left so I didn’t need to deal with leaves on the way in. I also used tea press mug for a while but found that it was impossible to fully stop the tea from brewing, resulting in oversteeped tea.

I have a 1.5Q Stanley thermos and I always carry a small strainer with me, so I can simply crack the top and have that filter the majority of the larger leafs and the smaller strainer to get the rest of the small particulates.

It's always worked for me and makes great tea that doesn't taste too bitter because of the amount of water in there. kinda like grandpa style.

I have this which is great, although small.

Not since I bought my Yeti cup which will keep my tea suitably warm for several hours. I have long shifts on duty & cannot leave to go make a fresh cup of tea, so this suits me.

Not sure if a “yes” vote on the poll means I use a thermos or find it a hassle, but most days where I have to go into work I brew masala chai, then strain and fill my thermos before leaving home.

Later in the day I make other loose leaf brews. When the kettle stopped working a few years back I asked for a replacement with temperature control, which the boss approved.

Ripe Pu’er or aged white in a thermos for long meetings at work, dump the leaves into garbage can after, rinse, done. It’s easier than cleaning 4 pieces of teawares for gongfu session.

My flask has a little solids filter that keeps most of the big leaves out too so, its not bad

When I had to go to the office, I'd make a thermos full of tea before I left. I have one of those gravity steepers so I'd make the tea in the steeper, and when it was ready I'd set the steeper on top of the thermos and let it drain.

Close the thermos, wash out the steeper, and head out the door. The thermos - a Klean Kanteen insulated bottle - kept my tea hot for hours.
