Earps: It’s always special at Old Trafford
Mary Earps is looking forward to seeing the Manchester United Women supporters back at Old Trafford for Saturday’s WSL season finale at home to Chelsea.
The 15:00 BST kick-off is the Reds’ last game of the 2023/24 campaign and will be a first chance for fans to see Marc Skinner’s team play on home soil since being crowned Adobe Women’s FA Cup winners at Wembley Stadium last weekend.
It is therefore a much-anticipated afternoon, and tickets are on sale here, starting at £15 for adults and £7.50 for concessions.
Ahead of the fixture, Earps has been speaking exclusively to popular social media outlet She’s a Baller, expressing her excitement to get back out in M16 in front of the United supporters.
“I know the fans love it at Old Trafford, obviously we’ve played a few times there before,” she begins.
“It’s always special. Wherever we go, the fans are there, home or away.
“They’ve created quite an atmosphere at Leigh [Sports Village] as well this year. But we always enjoy playing at Old Trafford as well. It’s a special place, a special stadium.”
While looking ahead to the season finale, against a Chelsea side that will be aiming to win the league title at the Theatre of Dreams, Earps also shares an insight into life as a goalkeeper, the pre-match rituals that she has and her journey in the women’s game so far, during her sit-down chat with She’s a Baller.

This weekend’s encounter in M16 will be United Women’s sixth outing at Old Trafford since reformation in 2018, with Mary present across every minute of the previous five clashes.
The goalkeeper has kept three clean sheets, shutting out West Ham (twice) and Aston Villa, as well as playing in a win over Everton, and the loss to Manchester City earlier this season – our women’s team’s only defeat at the stadium.
Earps has also represented England at the Theatre of Dreams, featuring in the Lionesses’ Euro 2022 opener on home soil, in which they beat Austria 1-0 in front of 68,871 fans.
Our no.27 recalls that night nearly two years ago as her favourite involvement to date at our historic home ground, as she bids add more memories to a growing catalogue on Saturday.
“The Euros [was my favourite memory],” Earps tells She’s a Baller.
“Playing Austria there was a big memory, a big highlight, because that was packed. Playing at Old Trafford when it’s packed is mental.”
