Resin fountain pen strength

So I've only had metal pens so far and am getting my first resin soon. How durable are they?

I’ve used fountain pens for decades, rarely a metal pen, and I’ve never broken one. Some of the pens I use are 100 years old. How you handle them is a factor.

Handle with care but will they typically survive small falls?

Maybe. Totally dependent on material and design. If you insist on dropping your pens, I would investigate pens made of PEEK or Ultem. SchonDsgn has some nice models.

I'd love to not, but wild stuff happens on flights and what not. Also love how you put that, "if you insist" haha

Yeah, I mean... it's a tough call. I love fps (I have nearing 500 of the suckers), but I try not to be dogmatic about using them: if I'm in an environment that isn't conducive to less-than-tactical-grade items, I use a crappy rollerball or something. Fountain pens get a special place of respect in my life, not a 'mandatory usage' decree.

It's an overly broad question. How durable is anything else you have that is made of rigid plastic? Pens will have roughly that level of variability. Their design, type of plastic, other things that might be mixed into the plastic, and your specific use case will all factor into their durability.

Generally they're not going to be as durable as brass pens. But if you take care of them they can last a lifetime and more.

So the new pen is a sailor and I didn't know if it would be better to leave it as a desk pen. I wasn't going to play darts with it or anything but I do drop things from time to time

Minor drops are fine. I carry my Sailors around.

Thank you!
