NEWS | Baseball Trio Collects All-HCAC Honors

CARMEL, Ind. – Three members of the Franklin College baseball team collected all-conference accolades when the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced its post-season award winners on Wednesday (May 15) morning.
 
Senior Tysen Lipscomb and sophomore Garrett DeHart landed spots on the HCAC's first team while senior AJ Sanders collected honorable mention all-conference honors.
 
Lipscomb earned the fourth all-conference award of his career after another stellar season in the blue and gold. The Wapahani, Ind.-native led the Grizzlies with a .377 average, nine home runs, 48 RBI, 60 hits, 55 runs scored and 15 doubles while also walking 32 times and swiping five bags. Lipscomb closes his career as the program's all-time leader in runs batted in with 183 and finished as a .351 hitter with 23 career long balls and 54 doubles over 164 games.

DeHart claimed the first all-conference honor in his first season as a full-time starter, finishing second to Lipscomb with a .357 batting average while starting 35 games as a true sophomore. The Smyrna, Ga.-native belted three home runs and drove in 31 runs, finishing with 13 doubles, 46 hits, 28 runs scored and finished with an OPS of 1.005. 

Sanders capped his career by hitting .343 with one home run and 39 RBI over 40 games for the Grizzlies. The Clayton, Ind.-native added 59 hits, 48 runs scored, a team-high nine stolen bases, 13 doubles and he became the program's all-time record holder for triples, adding two more three-baggers to his name to finish with 13 for his career. Sanders earned all-conference honors for the third straight season after collecting first team accolades in 2022 and 2023.
