All three players won trophies galore during their spells at Old Trafford

Wayne Rooney has revealed Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic didn't talk to Ryan Giggs 'for six months' after a blowing row.

All three players were key assets for the club during Sir Alex Ferguson's time in charge, winning a combined 23 Premier League titles between them.

The trio are all retired these days, with Rooney becoming a regular on The Stick to Football podcast after his sacking from Birmingham City at the start of the year.

Discussing rifts between team-mates with Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Ian Wright, Jill Scott and Andy Cole, the former England skipper revealed Vidic and Giggs once fell out during their time at Old Trafford.

And he also claims Vidic had an issue with Patrice Evra, too.

"I'd speak to everyone, but do you remember Vidic? He was a nightmare," he said.

"He'd have an argument with someone and I remember he didn't speak to Giggsy (Ryan Giggs) for six months. He didn't speak to Patrice (Evra) for months.

"He would have an argument with someone and he just wouldn't speak to them."

Rooney, especially during his younger years, could be guilty of being hot-headed.

And, at one point, he also fell out with Vidic - telling the Serbian to 'grow up'.

He added: "I had an argument with him one time and he was going down that same way and I pulled him and said, 'Grow up, what's wrong with you? We're team-mates'.

"Giggsy didn't bother with him to speak back then and it went on for months and he was the captain."

Towards the end of his time at United, Rooney also clashed with Ferguson.

Back in October 2010, he fell out with the Scot after handing in a transfer request in a bid to leave the club.

At the time, it was reported that Rooney was weighing up a shock move to Manchester City.

He eventually stayed but, two years later, Rooney again attempted to force through a departure.

The 38-year-old is a far calmer figure these days, however.

And he insists he was always ready to 'run through a brick wall' when playing, regardless of any issues behind the scenes.

"I had it with the manager where we had a falling out but come match day I'd run through a brick wall," he said.

"I wouldn't let that bother our play."

As for the current United side, the Red Devils are unrecognisable from the team they once were.

The fallen giants have gone 11 years and counting without winning the Premier League title, or mounting a serious challenge.

And, after Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, Rooney claimed some players were hiding behind their injuries in order to avoid taking to the field.

“If they are [behind manager Erik ten Hag], I don’t think they’re showing it very well. Some of those players can play, 100 per cent," he said.

“You’ve got a European Championships and an FA Cup final coming.

"Because they’re getting stick, it’s easy for players to come back and get themselves ready for the final and Euros. I’ve seen it myself.

“When your manager is talking about players’ attitude not being right to play, that’s a massive insult.”
