Here we go, here we go on a mission undercover – in Singapore, apparently. After a decade-long hiatus, the hit French cartoon Totally Spies! returned with its seventh season on Sunday (May 12) in France. The show centres around three teenage girls – Sam, Clover and Alex – who are secretly spies with missions all over the world.

On the same day of the season's French premiere, the English version of the show's trailer dropped online.

The trailer shows a brief glimpse of the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands, as the words "Totally new location" show onscreen. A few seconds later, a woman – dubbed in the video as "Totally new boss" – informs the main characters that strange and frightening creatures "are all over Singapore". This has prompted speculation that this new season of Totally Spies! is set in Singapore.

After watching the first French episode of the new season, we can confirm that, yes, the seventh season of Totally Spies! will totally take place in Singapore.

Mild spoilers ahead.

The show's new setting is spoiled even in the episode's synopsis and opening sequence where we see Sam, Clover and Alex visiting various landmarks in Singapore.

We won't spoil the entirety of the episode but just know that by the end of it, the girls end up relocating to Singapore and even get themselves enrolled into a university called AIYA.

At the end of the episode, they even partake in one of Singapore's favourite hobbies: Drinking bubble tea.

In a past interview with the team from French licensing fair Cobrandz, the producer of Totally Spies! Benoit Di Sabatino said of the change: "[The main characters] will experience, just like our audience, a new culture that is unfamiliar to them. To do this, we worked with Singaporean screenwriter, voice artist and cultural consultant Elaine Chiew to ensure the precision and authenticity of our approach."

The release date for the English dub of Totally Spies!'s new season has yet to be announced.

This isn't the first time Singapore has been featured in a revival of a beloved cartoon show. Last year, Warner Bros produced a Tom And Jerry series set in Singapore which even featured an episode dedicated to durian.
