Women's local lacrosse round up; Terps all that remains in NCAA Tournament

Locally, all that remains on the women's side in the NCAA Tournament is Maryland. Maryland won today and advanced to host their quarterfinal. Loyola and Johns Hopkins both lost today and exit in the second round.

Four seed Maryland advanced by dominating James Madison, 17-7 in the second round. Maryland scored eight unanswered goals to begin the game, holding James Madison (14-6) scoreless for 19:40. Maryland will host Florida in the quarterfinals on Thursday in College Park.

Also out of the Big Ten Conference, sixth-ranked Yale scored four of the final five goals to beat 11th-ranked Johns Hopkins, 9-7, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday. The Blue Jays end their season at 12-8, their most wins since 2015.

Penn used a 4-1 run in the fourth quarter to jump out to a 11-7 lead, as Penn went on to win 12-9 over visiting Loyola in the second round. The season wraps up for the Greyhounds with their fifth straight trip to the NCAA second round.
