Ikr sets can be redesigned. Manufacturing, freight and warehousing costs have likely gone up since 2008 too - not that this accounts for the Disney tax.
Honestly these days I'm happier with smaller sets because I've got limited room! Again not accounting for Disney tax cause some sets have half the pieces of others for the same price.

I agree with you. Tbh, I think some of us may be seeing the whole cloth kama thing from the wrong angle. Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoy the cloth pieces and I think Rex doesn't look as good without them. But, going back to older lego reviews, I do see some people complaining about cloth kama/skirt pieces, because of how they don't let figures sit down or because of how they stick up in weird ways
I feel like it's possible that lego just chose to print them this time as a response to those criticisms, maybe? It especially makes sense with the microfighter, since Rex would not be able to sit inside with a kama on his hips
So I feel like this whole thing may just have been a big misunderstanding, maybe. Like when Infinity Ward saw people complain that Call of Duty Ghosts was too similar to past CoD games, and so they started developing the futuristic Infinite Warfare for 3 years, only for fans to have grown to hate futuristic CoD games by the time Infinite Warfare got revealed
Yeah I agree, but if they wanted to print them instead they could’ve done a dual molding and add the printing on the front, to make it look like it’s around the waist. They’ve done that a few times for longer coat legs, I don’t think people would mind it
