Darwin Núñez delivers three-word message to Liverpool teammate amid transfer rumors

Darwin Nunez is seen smiling during Liverpool training at the AXA Training Centre

Darwin Núñez may have deleted nearly all traces of Liverpool from his social media, but the striker hasn’t cut his teammates out of the picture.

Núñez caught the attention of the club’s supporters when he deleted all of his Liverpool-related pictures from his Instagram account after last weekend’s win over Tottenham. The only traces of the Reds left remaining were in his profile picture and in his bio, as well as one solitary picture of him outside the club’s training ground.

The move came as the 24-year-old continues to face questions over his future at Anfield. Núñez has faced criticism from supporters for his wastefulness in front of goal, and has dropped down the pecking order in recent weeks amid a run of eight games without a goal.

Jürgen Klopp played down recent speculation suggesting Núñez could be in line for a move to Barcelona. The Liverpool boss admitted though that the Uruguay international is ‘not happy’ with his recent form.

Despite his recent displeasure and drastic action on social media, Núñez hasn’t shied away from posting online in recent days. The striker shared pictures from his holiday last week, which included meeting up with Barcelona defender and Uruguay teammate Ronald Araújo, as well as commenting on a post from former Red Luis Suárez.

And Núñez is clearly still on good terms with his Liverpool teammates. He commented: “Que jugador” on Stefan Bajčetić’s latest post, showing the 19-year-old in training with the Reds, which translates to “What a player”.

Speculation continues over Núñez’s future though. Following Spanish outlet Sport’s claim that Barcelona are interested in the striker, Radio Fénix journalist Nicolás Saavedra has claimed (via Sport) that the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, wants Núñez to leave Anfield.

Liverpool.com says: If nothing else, it’s good to see that Núñez is still getting on with his Liverpool teammates, even if he’s seemingly not happy with the reaction from supporters recently. What the future holds for him remains to be seen, with Arne Slot having a decision to make in the summer, although it would be a shock to see the Reds offload him during the transfer window.
