Snowpiercer Season 4 Finds New Home After TNT Cancellation

The Snowpiercer season 4 release date has finally been revealed. Based on the French novel Le Transperceneige and the 2013 sci-fi film Snowpiercer, the TV show version of Snowpiercer tells the story of a group of people who are stuck on a perpetually moving train that circulates the globe, playing out dynamics of class warfare and social injustice. The show features a leading cast including Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Iddo Goldberg, Sheila Vand, Lena Hall, Sean Bean, and Karin Konoval.

Per AMC, Snowpiercer season 4 has set its premiere date. The series will air this season on July 21 at 9pm ET on AMC and AMC+. Before the release of Snowpiercer season 4, seasons 1 and 2 will premiere on AMC+ on June 1. Following the release of seasons 1 and 2, AMC+ will then host Snowpiercer season 3 beginning on June 8. AMC’s executive vice president of streaming, Courtney Thomasma, said the following regarding the news about the series:

We can’t wait to share the final season of this thrill ride of a series with this vibrant fan community and new viewers starting July 21 on AMC and AMC+, with plenty of time built in to catch up on previous seasons on a variety of on demand platforms and AMC+ before then. ‘Snowpiercer’ is an entertaining drama with a great cast and seeing how the ride ends will be a highlight of summer viewing worthy of a 1001-car train.

The Path To Snowpiercer Season 4 Has Not Been Easy

Season 4 Will Be The Final Season

While Snowpiercer season 4 now has a release date, the path to its completion has been far from easy. In January 2023, it was announced that TNT, which hosted the series for its first three seasons, would be cancelling Snowpiercer. Snowpiercer season 3 left room open for more, so the cancellation was initially dismaying for audiences, as the season 4 sat in flux. It was not until March of this year that it was announced that Snowpiercer would officially be moving to AMC.

Season 4 will be the final season for Snowpiercer. The move to AMC will allow the show to provide a definitive finale for viewers, which the ending of season 3 did not allow. While the show is not currently available on streaming, adding seasons 1-3 to AMC+ will allow a new audience to discover the show before the premiere of season 4.
