Obituary

    Marine Robinson Fitch, 85 of Columbus, MS passed away on May 9th, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with her Grandsons and Bro. Ty Danielson officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until service time at the church;  burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. 

    Ms. Fitch was born on July 7th, 1938 in Columbus, MS to the late John Robinson and Mamie Hollingsworth Robinson. She was a graduate of Lee High School in Columbus.

    She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She was a member of Chrysalis Sunday school class and loved each and every member of her class dearly as well as all of her church family. The 55+ Group was also something she was a member of and thoroughly enjoyed the many outings and trips with them. She and several of her friends were also former members of The Red Hat Society and had a fun time participating in this group.

    Rena absolutely loved shopping and could be found almost weekly in Belk either buying or returning something. The employees there knew her on a first name basis. Another hobby of hers was getting on her iPad and scrolling through Facebook. She loved keeping up with family and friends to see what was going on in their lives and also seeing what the news was for the day. She had a sense of humor that kept everyone smiling and laughing, and she loved all of her family,  It brought her joy anytime that they were together. Her grandchildren all loved her cooking, and she made sure that everyone had what they liked at her holiday meals.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Austin Fitch, Sr., her son, Cecil Austin Fitch, Jr., and her sisters, Mary Hammett, Jean Taylor, and Donna Bush.

    She is survived by her sons-Allen(Anita)Fitch, and Terry(Karen)Fitch; grandchildren-Melanie(Hutch)Beard, Austin Fitch, and Davis Fitch;
great grandchildren-Conner Beard, and Madi Beard; sister-Linda(Bob)Brandon and twin sister Maxine “Mac” Perry; brother-Bill Robinson, and many nieces and nephews who meant so much to her.

    Pallbearers will be Conner Beard, Hutch Beard, Austin Fitch, Davis Fitch, and her sons, Allen Fitch and Terry Fitch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Taylor, Johnny Taylor, Ron Whitten, Donnie Camp, Jamie Camp, Todd Brandon, Cassie Neal, Bubba Fitch, Dwight Fitch, Mitchell Fitch, Phil Fitch, Tim Fitch, Russ Brown, Todd Davis, Shorty Yearby, and Chrysalis Sunday school class.

    The family would like to thank Legacy Hospice for their love and care for her during the last several months.
