Join us in the children's area to learn about the art of mandala which is made as a part of several religions practiced in Asia & America including Buddhism and Hinduism. We will make sand mandalas.
In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we will be learning about the art of mandala making. We will create our own versions of mandalas using colored sand on paper and cardboard. This activity is recommended for ages 5 years old and up.
A Mandala is a geometric pattern of symbols that is used and created by people all over the world. People who practice the religions of Buddhism, Hinduism, Shinto, and Jainism use mandala and have different traditions associated with them. We will learn about their importance and make our own version that is based on sand mandalas created by Buddhist monks from Tibet.
