Slash says Guns N’ Roses are trying to make a new album

It’s been 8 years since the guitarist Slash and the bassist Duff McKagan returned to Guns N’ Roses and since then the band is constantly touring around the world. A few reworked tracks were released along the way but they were unfinished songs from the “Chinese Democracy” era, so they were not written from scratch by this line-up.

But in an interview with Daily Star, Slash said that the band is trying to make a new album. He was asked why Duff and Axl were not part of his new solo album “Orgy Of The Damned” and that was when he confirmed they are working on a new record. “Guns N’ Roses are trying to make their own record and I’m working with them in that capacity but this didn’t involve anyone else,” Slash said.

In 2021, the band released the tracks “Absurd” and “Hard Skool”, which were then featured on their live shows. In 2023, the songs released were “Perhaps” and “The General”, which were also played live at their shows, but they are all reworked tracks from the “Chinese Democracy” album, which is the most recent one released by the group.

It took more than a decade to make the record, a huge number of artists played on it and it was finally released under mixed reviews in 2008. The band has no current tour dates scheduled but Slash continues on the road next July and August promoting his new covers album.

The bassist Duff McKagan also has scheduled tour dates to promote his latest solo records. The shows will happen next September and October in Europe.
