ITV Vera cast seen in County Durham as final series filming moves to new location

While fans are still coming to terms with the fact that their favourite TV drama is coming to an end next year, the cast and crew of era have now been seen in a new location, as filming continues on its last ever episodes.

Lead actress Brenda Blethyn admitted she was 'sad' to be saying bye to her world famous alter go, when ITV broke the news that Vera would be coming to an end in 2025, after 14 years and 14 series; on the same day that the cast reunited for a first read through of the last scripts.

A week later, it was all go in the North East as Brenda and returning sidekick David Leon were seen shooting a scene in Cambois, Northumberland, before Vera's instantly recognisable Land Rover was parked in the vicinity of Blyth beach. Since then, Vera stars and production vehicles have been clocked all over the region, in the likes of Gateshead, Ashington and South Shields.

At the end of last week, there was particular excitement for residents in a housing estate in Blyth, when not only was the Land Rover parked next to one of block of fats, but Brenda was seen inside one of the properties as cameras rolled. Things have been slightly quieter on the Vera front this week, however on Thursday, Seaham seafront became a hive of activity as more scenes for series 14 were shot.

Production vehicles and the Land Rover were spotted by passers by, leading to speculation as to where Vera will head to next, especially given the fact that there have been multiple call outs on social media, inviting local residents to apply to be extras in the new series.

The two feature length episodes that will make up Vera series 14 are set to be based on Tyneside based author Ann Cleeves new book, The Dark Wives, and due to air on ITV early next year.
