Sugarwater & Lime Lyrics

[Chorus]
Baby, we can't make lemonade (Lemonade, lemonade)
From sugarwater and lime
But we tried (Tried)
We couldn't make lemonade
But maybe we can heal from heartbreak
In due time (Time, time, time)
Baby, baby, baby, baby (Lemonade, lemonade)

[Verse 1]
I've been working hard on this love, standing in the sun all d ay
Nothing but a pitcher of water and six fresh limes
Trying to make sweet lemonade
It's almost 9, I ain't made a dimе, but I'm still here
Maybe I should add a littlе more sugar and a couple tears
'Cause the bitter taste is no good

[Refrain]
Ice-cold to the touch when I hold ya
Freezing like a winter's day on my shoulder
I'm running, running low on juice, it's always too sour for you

[Chorus]
Baby, we (We) can't (Can't) make (Make) lemonade (Lemonade, lemonade)
From sugarwater and lime
But we tried
We couldn't make lemonade (Yeah)
But maybe we can heal from heartbreak (From heartbreak, hey)
In due time (Time, time, time)
Baby, baby, baby, baby (Lemonade, lemonade)
[Verse 2]
Damn right, I'm in my feelings
All these trees growing limes, I planted lemons
Had a nigga up all night, was on a mission
Lost count, but it must've been a quarter million
You don't like the flavor, but you love the taste
It's ironic, if I must say
Like a sunny day when somebody throwing shade
Wanted raisins, but life gave you grapes
Hoping these seeds were gonna grow one day
And they we gonna make a bunch of yellow lemon, so that we can drink lemonade
But they came out green and

[Refrain]
Ice-cold to the touch when I hold ya
Freezing like a winter's day on my shoulder
Running, running low on juice, it's always too sour for you

[Chorus]
Baby, we (We) can't (Can't) make (Make) lemonade (Lemonade, lemonade, lemonade)
From sugarwater and lime
But we tried
We, we couldn't make lemonade (Lemonade)
But maybe we (We) can (Heal) heal from heartbreak (Heal)
In due time (Time, time, time)
Baby, baby, baby, baby (Lemonade, lemonade)

What did Elijah Blake say about "Sugarwater & Lime"?
Genius Answer

Every time I try to explain how I feel but can’t find the words, I often reference an analogy, and that’s the heart of this song. It talks about entering a relationship without having the ingredients to fulfill each other’s pallets completely.

In hindsight, the only way I can describe past heartbreak is like trying to squeeze lemon juice out of lime. You can get close to the taste, but it’ll never be so.
