FRANKLIN
Dan Mullendore Mitchell, 87, passed away on Tuesday evening, May 14, 2024 at his residence in Franklin.
He was born on August 7, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Raymond and Katherine (Mullendore) Mitchell. He married Janet Inman on June 18, 1960. She lovingly survives. Dan is also survived by one nephew, Jason Upham. He was preceded in passing by his parents and sister, Diane Upham.
He was a 1954 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Purdue University for three years. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Franklin College.
Dan was the owner/operator of Mitchell Insurance Agency for many years.
He was a member of the Civil War roundtable group. He enjoyed casting and painting civil war soldiers. Dan was a Past President and current Treasurer of the Johnson County Library Board.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Public Library, 401 S. State Street, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
