Transiting in Bogota Airport and Luggage Storage?

Hi everyone,

I'm visiting Bogota for a few weeks and then taking a round trip to visit Panama City for a few days, before heading off to Lima Peru. I've got two questions I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can help!

1. I would like to leave my large backpack at Bogota airport for my trip to Panama. I know there is luggage lockers at airport and the website says COP 15,000 for 12 hours, and I found an earlier post on Tripadvisor from 6 years ago that confirmed it runs 24 hours (hopefully that is still the case). My question is would it be okay to leave it there for 4-5 days? Happy to pay the 12 hour rate x however many times needed.

2. My flight from Panama City to Bogota arrives at midnight, then the flight from Bogota to Lima leaves at 4:30 AM in the morning (different airlines). If my Q1 above is okay, then I would need time to clear customs and pick up my backpack, then re-check in and go through security for the Lima flight. I think this is enogh time since I don't need a visa to enter Colombia, I won't have any check in to pick up (since my luggage is in locker), and it's in the middle of the night so surely not that busy. But I've never been to Bogota so I wanted to know what other's might think?

Thanks in advance!

Question 1.

Yes, you can. I have gone there several times to ask that question. Unfortunately, they also stated they do not give discounts for longer periods.

Question 2.

Yes, I would be happy with that transit time (4 1/2 hours) with tickets that are not linked in Bogota airport, assuming your firtst flight is not significantly delayed.

Thank you so much!

Do you know if it's located in a convenient location for going in and out of security/check in? Or should I prepare for a lot of walking? On the map it didn't seem like the airport is particularly big.

Yeah the only concern with Q2 is if the first flight is delayed...but hey it's only like a 1hr flight so I'm hoping even when delayed it won't be too long, unless something catastrophic happened.

The airport is not very large at all. It's easy to walk.

For the bag storage, when you exit customs, turn right, and it is at the end of the hall, right hand side. You can catch an elevator from there up to the departures level. For international flights, you need to then walk back again past all the domestic check-in.
