Agatha: All Along star Patti LuPone has confirmed the upcoming Disney+ series will take us to the Witches' Road, comparing the set to something you'd see on a "$100 million movie." Check it out...

After months of hijinks, Marvel Studios Television (find more on that change here) announced yesterday that its upcoming WandaVision sequel will be titled Agatha All Along

We're getting a two-episode Disney+ premiere on September 18 and, yesterday evening, Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, and Patti LuPone were on hand for the Walt Disney Company's Upfront presentation in New York to discuss the series.

"The thing about this show which I thought was so thrilling [is] that Jac Schaeffer, who wrote it and also wrote WandaVision...it was very important to her and Mary Livanos, our producer, that there be as minimal CGI," Hahn explained, "so there's very little that is not practical magic or just our magic.

"That was a very exciting something to set up that we were able to prove again and again we could do it," the actress continued. "So, it's minimal CGI, but that was very thrilling. [The] sets are incredible...it just felt delicious. It was a very immersive experience."

LuPone then chimed in to reveal Agatha All Along will indeed take us to the Witches' Road, confirming claims from several social media scoopers over the past year or so.

"May I say to that point, the set, the production design and the set dressers, and the lighting, the costumes, everything about it, it appeared to all of us when we saw it when we came to set that everybody on the creative end were at the top of their game," the Broadway icon explained. "I was telling somebody about the Witches' Road."

"How absolutely beautiful...we burst into tears when we got on the set and we saw the actual Witches' Road. It's gorgeous to look at on top of being a fantastic story. It looks like a $100 million movie."

In the comics, the Witches' Road is a plane of existence where only sorcerers can tread. The prevailing theory right now is that Agatha and Billy head there in search of the Scarlet Witch following her disappearance (and apparent death) at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It's still unclear whether Elizabeth Olsen will make an appearance in the series as Wanda Maximoff.

As noted, Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ on September 18.

So disappointing 😞 in marvel, building up tertiary characters no one cares about. This will be like the marvels, will tank big. I will totally skip. So many better stories to tell about superheroes, plus the magic world has been explored with doctor strange. Marvel doesn't have a clue anymore and they wonder why they lost their way. Follow canon and listen to fans. Same with ironheart, there is not Ironman without Tony stark, garbage. Will skip and will tank huge.

marvel72 - 5/15/2024, 8:57 AM
@Comicmoviejunki - Why? He raises valid points, Agatha is even worthy of a show, she is a supporting character at best. She isn't a popular character, she wouldn't even break the top 100 most popular comic characters but Disney Marvel seem to believe that the character needs a five maybe six hour show, which the budget could be close to $100 Million dollars or more.
Agatha story origin whatever this is could have been told in a Marvel Special Presentation. Werewolf By Night would have been better suited for a show but gets 50 minutes.
Waste of money which could have been spent on a character that people want to see.

@Tonic24k - But Guardians Of The Galaxy are more popular characters and deserve a movie over Agatha.

So what was your point?

@marvel72 - Key word: ARE.

But prior to their first film, the were NOT. They were C-list characters maybe even D. Agatha is no different. She's a character with strong ties to the supernatural pocket of the Marvel lore who needed some adaptation to make her compelling. For the sake of storytelling, she's a perfect fit for a tv show. Which btw, yes, GotG would deserve a film over Agatha. Which is why they got a film and she got a spin off tv series that doesn't go to theaters. Duh.

@cubichy - I agree tho. Your comment is rather ignorant. You have nothing to go by to form such a strong complaint. If you shut up long enough to actually think, you'd realize a show like this has really high potential.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 5/15/2024, 6:58 AM
Spitballing here but if doing Witches road could be why she tracks down Billy whilst sans powers to get her there in order to unlock/restore her abilities...

...as Agatha has stolen powers from other Witches in her long past that lends itself to a lot of narrative potential for character development leading to a plausible change from viewed more vlllain to becoming more hero.

@Apophis71 - I am kind of wondering if this will mimic the Wizard of Oz.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 5/15/2024, 9:59 AM
@Itwasme - Would not surprise me if they have elements of stuff like WoZ in it considering all episodes of WV drew from aspects of sitcoms. Would be very on brand to thus also draw from various witch related stuff over the decades esp when going somewhere more fantastical like Witches Road (even if only the path has yellow cobblestones).

Still feels like a very odd choice for a Marvel series, but I'll have an open mind, who knows maybe it will be a nice suprise. Always liked supernatural stuff.
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/15/2024, 8:59 AM
@Urubrodi - Werewolf By Night was popular and they could have done an Elisa Bloodstone or Man-Thing show but no, Agatha is the one they went with.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 5/15/2024, 9:13 AM
@marvel72 - Don't get me wrong I don't think doing an Agatha show instead of other more popular (and better) supernatural characters was the right choice. But... it does exist. So might as well give it a shot. May still be a decent show.

bkmeijer1 - 5/15/2024, 7:18 AM
I like that a lot is practical, but I don't need it to look like a 100 million dollar movie. A look similar to Werewolf by Night would've fit so much better imo

TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 5/15/2024, 8:39 AM
@bkmeijer1 - to be fair

Patti LuPone said that who’s mainly known as a theater and tv legend so from her eyes , it could have looked like a 100 million since she might not have worked on something this big that much or before.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 5/15/2024, 9:33 AM
@clintthahamster - actually, yeah. I don't need tv shows to look cinematic. Werewolf reminded me a lot of Twilight Zone and Hammer stuff. Think that would fit this show too.

The initial title (Agatha House of Harkness) reminded me a lot of Hammer House of Horror, and ever since I kinda want this show to be sorta like that.
clintthahamster
clintthahamster - 5/15/2024, 9:59 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I definitely agree with not NEEDING it in order to enjoy it, but as long as it's not a jarring tonal or visual shift, I don't see the harm. But that's me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 5/15/2024, 10:55 AM
@clintthahamster - true. It's more of a preference, but it probably won't bother me that much. WandaVision balanced styles well too, and with the same team on this I got faith they can give it a unique look as well

With WandaVision being the second best D+ Marvel show right after Loki (and the only two worth a damn IMO), and Kathryn Hahn stealing the show in her scenes, I'm actually looking forward to this one.

But I've been burned before. Cautiously optimistic.

bkmeijer1 - 5/15/2024, 9:35 AM
@OrgasmicPotatoe - agreed. Reason I look forward to this is that I have no idea what to expect. It is mystical, and my favorite D+ stuff so far (Loki, Moon Knight, Werewolf) has been in similar genres
