Gary Lineker singles out one 'dangerous' Man Utd star for making same 'awful' decision during 'entire match' vs Arsenal

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has made his feelings perfectly on one Manchester United star’s performance against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s men slipped to a second consecutive Premier League defeat after a lacklustre performance against the Gunners.

Manchester United suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last week before Arsenal arrived at Old Trafford on the weekend.

Leandro Trossard made the difference in the Premier League contest, with the Arsenal star opening the scoring in the first half at Old Trafford.

However, Erik ten Hag’s side were unable to rally back into the match and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side snatched all three Premier League points.

United are eighth in the Premier League table and are three points behind seventh-place Chelsea and sixth-place Newcastle with two league matches remaining.

Lineker reacts to Man Utd star vs Arsenal

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker singled out one Manchester United star for failing to find the back of the net against Arsenal.

Alejandro Garnacho was lively during the match at Old Trafford, but even the United winger frustrated fans with his decision-making in the final third.

Lineker admitted that the Argentina international was a real “threat,” but he was far from impressed with Garnacho’s “final ball.”

The Rest Is Football co-host added that Garnacho could have ‘ended’ the title race for Arsenal if he cut in and “conceivably [bent] one in the top corner.”

“Garnacho was a threat but his final ball was awful for the entire match I thought,” Lineker said.

“But he is dangerous and all it needed was one where he cuts in and he could conceivably bend one in the top corner and then all of a sudden the title race is pretty much done really.”

Ian Wright talks Garnacho vs Arsenal

Garnacho has become a regular starter under United manager Erik ten Hag and impressed with his brilliance at times during this season.

However, the Spain-born winger’s performance showed there is more room for development in his style of play, despite being a threat against Arsenal.

Ian Wright admitted that Garnacho has the ability to be a “match-winner” and hailed the United star as a “brilliant individual.”

But the Arsenal legend, much like Lineker, expressed his frustration at Garnacho not putting more focus on others around him rather than himself.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, Ian Wright said: “I look at Garnacho and he’s a match-winner, he does great things, he’s a brilliant individual.

“But his team play and appreciation of others for a one-two or to play a ball, it’s almost non-existent in what he’s doing.

“Some of the shots he was having and the one he had where he should have maybe hit the target was the one time where Arsenal nearly got that wrong.

“But in the main, they shepherd him to places because they know he’s going to try and shoot from anywhere really.”
