Doris Romaine Murray Cameron was born on January 5th, 1930, in Carey, Ohio, to Jasper and Margaret Murray. She married Howard Cameron on July 13th, 1952, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Prospect, Ohio. Howard passed away on November 23, 2016. They have lived in Plain City since 2000.

She lost her brother, Jack Murray, from Kenton, Ohio in 2023. Doris is survived by her two sons, Paul (Cathy) Cameron of Columbus, Ohio, and Adam (Amy) Cameron of Plain City, Ohio. A daughter, Dana (Dean) Hays of Elida, Ohio.

She is survived by seven grandchildren, Wyatt Cameron, Kayleigh Cameron, Jason Hays, Alana Burch, April Cribbs, Alisha Miller and Anna Swanger, as well as fifteen great-grandchildren. They are Eli Hays, Asher Hays, Ethan Burch, Owen Burch, Aiden Burch, Upton Burch, Shayna Cribbs, Gabe Cribbs, Riley Cribbs, Beau Miller, Piper Miller, Violet Miller, Maddison Swanger, Isabelle Swanger and Bentley Swanger.

Doris graduated from Lima South High School in 1947. She attended Lima Memorial School of Nursing from 1947-1950.

Doris and Howard lived in Wellsville, Ohio for forty years. They attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Liverpool, Ohio. Doris was active in the church choir and council. She was a Sweet Adeline member for thirty-seven years. She delivered Meals on Wheels and helped with Red Cross Blood Drives. She volunteered at the Southern Local School Library and worked at East Liverpool City Hospital.

She was a Prince of Peace Lutheran Church member in Dublin, Ohio. She was active in the choir and helped take food to the Dublin food pantry. She was a charter volunteer at the Riverside Methodist Hospital for fourteen years. She enjoyed all the activities at the Dublin Recreational Center.

She spent the last three years living with her daughter Dana Hays in Elida, Ohio. She enjoyed going to the Lima Senior Center and playing cards with the friends. She enjoyed the many hours of visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating the many birthdays in the family.

A visitation will take place on Thursday May 16th, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Ferguson Funeral Home 202 East Main Street Plain City, Ohio 43064. A funeral service will take place on Friday May 17th, 2024, at 11 AM at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 5475 Brand Road, Dublin, Ohio 43017, family, and friends may visit an hour prior. Interment to follow at Forest Grove Cemetery Plain City, Ohio. Memorial Contributions can be made in Doris’s memory to the church.
