During a new appearance on The Rocker Morning Show, Mick Mars discussed the influences of his debut solo album, ‘The Other Side of Mars.’
When asked about the different sounds and styles on his record, the guitarist replied:
“I think that me being on my own really doesn’t give me any boundaries or any restrictions or stuff. I can take it to wherever I would like to have it. My album is pretty diverse. It shows different sides of how I write or how I approach music — just a lot of different things.”
After saying that it took about four years to put together the material for ‘The Other Side of Mars’ and he wanted to avoid sounding dated, Mars added:
“I can play anything. I played everything, from country music to a lot of different things, a lot of different influences, a lot of people that I listen to, everything from classical, Mozart, Beethoven, and all those people, and country music, and all sorts of stuff. I fell in love with the blues.”
Mars Cared About Diversity In His Album
In a March interview with FOX17, the rocker discussed that he wanted to show his different sides with his solo record:
“Diversity is, not always, but is missing nowadays. I purposely wrote this way, in this manner, to take you on a little short journey. Every song you hear, you’re imagining or seeing a different landscape or whatever; it’s a musicscape, I guess. But I wanted to put that across to show that I’m not just this [one-dimensional player and songwriter].”
He also called Mötley Crüe a ‘little box’:
“I feel more like I’m free to do whatever. […] There’s a billion different things that you can do, and you stay in this little box. I can’t do that.”
Mick’s solo album arrived on February 23. It was really successful on the charts. When it for number one on iTunes Charts after the release, the musician took to Instagram and shared a message. He also recently expressed his happiness over the fan demand for the record.
