Cape Town Spurs’ relegation from the DStv Premiership was confirmed on Saturday evening when Richards Bay shocked Orlando Pirates in Soweto.
The three points the Natal Rich Boys picked up for their 1-0 win was enough to see them move eight points above Cape Town Spurs with just two matches remaining in the season.
Cape Town Spurs took to X, formerly Twitter, post match to write:
Richards Bay also moved just two points behind Royal AM – who do have a game in hand.
Royal AM are in freefall at present having lost their last four matches.
Cape Town Spurs have picked up 19 points in their 28 matches to date thanks to five wins, four draws and 19 defeats.
The Mother City side have scored 20 goals and conceded 42 this season.
Cape Town Spurs will be replaced by Magesi FC next season in the DStv Premiership.
Magesi FC have clinched the NFD title with two matches remaining in that league.
