‘My Dearest,’ ‘Exhuma,’ ‘Moving’ Shine At 60th Baeksang Awards

The 60th Baeksang Arts Awards has announced award winners in k-drama and Korean cinema categories. Suzy Bae and Park Bo-gum, co-stars of the film Wonderland, and comedian/entertainer Shin Dong-yup presented awards to candidates chosen from TV shows, OTT programs, and films that aired or were released between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024.

The Daesang or Grand Prize went to the drama Moving, which stars Zo In-sung, Han Hyo-joo, Ryu Seung-ryoung, Lee Jong-ha, Go Youn-jung and Kim Do-hoon. The drama, adapted from a webtoon by Kang Full, also won a Best Screenplay and a Best New Actor TV award for Lee Jung-ha. Kim Sung Su won the film grand prize for 12.12: The Day.

The award for Best Drama went to My Dearest, a Joseon-era saga of love and war. The drama also earned Best Actor and Actress awards for stars Namgoong Min and Ah Eun-jin.

The Best Film award was given to 12:12 The Day, which dramatically chronicles an important day in recent South Korean history. The film starred Jung Woo-sung and Hwang Jung-min, who won a Best Actor award for his role as a charismatic dictator based on a real-life figure.

The Best Director TV award went to Han Dong-wook for the crime thriller The Worst of Evil, starring Wi Ha-jun and Ji Chang-wook. Jang Jae Hyun won the Best Director award for his film Exhuma, a tale of shamanism and exorcizing trauma.

A Best Supporting Actor award for drama went to Ahn Jae-hong for his role in the series Mask Girl, while Kang Mal Geum won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the drama The Good Bad Mother.

The Best New Actor Film award went to Lee Do-hyun for his role in the box office hit Exhuma, a film that also stars Kim Go-eun, Choi Min-sik and Yoo Hae-jin as a team of shamans. Co-star Kim Go-eun won a Best Actress film award for her role in the same film. The Best New Actress Film award went to Bibi for her part in Hopeless. Yoo Na won the Best New Actress TV award for role as a smart sassy young kidnap victim in The Kidnapping Day.

The Best Supporting Actor award went to Kim Jong-soo for his role in the film Smugglers, while Lee Sang-hee won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in My Name is Loh Kiwan. Yoo Jae Sun won a Best Screenplay award for the film Sleep, which stars Jung Yu-mi and the late Lee Sun-kyun.

Kim Soo-hyun did not win an acting award for his role in Queen of Tears but he did win the 2024 award for Most Popular Actor. The other Baeksang Popularity Award was awarded to IVE lead singer An Yujin.

The ceremony was held earlier today at the COEX in Seoul.
