Who could have been in Chris Evans' place?

At the forefront of the actors considered to play Captain America, we find names like Ryan Phillippe, Dane Cook or Scott Eastwoodson of Clint Eastwood who stood out in numerous action films in the 2010s. But even more surprising, Kellan Lutz, known for having played Emmet Cullen in the Twilight franchise, who revealed in 2014 to have auditioned for the role. .. as well as for that of Thor which was finally won by Chris Hemsworth.

But to stay in the superheroic world, Chace Crawford, who we know today for playing The Deep in The Boys, but who was best known for being in Gossip Girl, should have brought Captain America to the screen. On the other hand, as surprising as it is, Will Smith would have been considered for the role at one point in development, even if the actor revealed that he had never been cast or directly contacted for the role. If all these names are surprising, many actors who have played in the MCU had also been considered to play Cap.

For example, another Chris could have played Captain America, namely Chris Pratt, no less, before taking on the role of leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. On the other hand, another actor that we could well have imagined as Steve Rogers is John Krasinki. If the actor is known for his role as Jim Halpert in the series The Office, for several years the latter has displayed a bushy beard which makes us imagine him perfectly in the skin of Captain America in Avengers: Infinity War. In the end, compared to Chris Hemsworth in the Thor costume, he ended up giving up, but we still saw him as Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Finally, same thing for Wilson Bethel who plays Bullseye in the Daredevil series who was only considered for the role.

But more ironically, Wyatt Rusell auditioned to play Captain America when he played his replacement a few years later in the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in which he actually wears the shield! Except that for the role of Steve Rogers, he only had one audition. Definitely, the biggest surprise of these auditions is obviously Sebastian Stan, actor who plays Bucky Barnes and therefore the Winter Soldier in the MCU, who should normally have played his childhood friend. Finally, with hindsight, he even finds that Chris Evans is better in this role than him. So, we may be living in the best timeline!
