Alan Robert Williams Sep 22, 1933-Feb. 9, 2015 Alan Williams had little patience with convention, and no desire to conform to other people’s expectations. He did not suffer fools gladly. He married Julian Gonzenbach; they were just out of their teens. No one thought their 61-year marriage would last. On graduating from UC Berkeley in architecture, he was drafted and sent to South Korea. There he discovered ceramics, a lifelong passion. He then began at MBT Associates, where he worked until retirement. His wife Julian and children, Guy and Sean, treasure his intelligence, aesthetic rigor, prodigious generosity, and his offbeat insights and contrarian humor.
