Not happening ,I don’t think marvel wants another Edward Norton on their hands especially with that article about rock behavior on set
Plus, his contractual inability to ever be seen as losing or even hit is a non-starter for a villain unless you want him to win.
I believe that only extends to the Fast and Furious franchise, neither he nor Vin Diesel wanted to lose the first fight between their characters so after the filmmakers compromised out a draw, they wrote it in their contracts that they can’t lose an on-screen fight in that series
It’s still lame as fuck, movies are supposed to be an artistic expression not a pissing contest between two egotistical brain-dead actors.
Oh yeah, I’m not saying it’s not stupid as hell. Just that if that was really something he put in every contract he signed, Marvel wouldn’t even consider him because of course Apocalypse would lose by the end of it. (Assuming any of this is true in the first place)
To be fair, I dont think the Fast and the Furious is going for artistic expression.
They’re movies about Hotwheels my dude
Three. Jason Statham has the contract, too.
Counter point, Rick Dalton in once upon a time in Hollywood . His career was over once everyone started associating him with a guy that gets his ass kicked.
But its Vin that didnt wanna lose lol, the spin is that its Rock but its only an issue because Vin Diesel made it an issue.
This is why I love John Cena. Dude has no issues about being beat up, losing, or goofing on himself. Peacemaker perfectly encompasses that.
Even if he loses no one will see it
John Cena actually has range and is a decent actor too
It's Steven Seagal and JCVD all over again.
Same with Batista, honestly think both have already had better movie careers than Rocky
I was really impressed by Cena's performance in Peacemaker tbh
and he was in love with Amy Schumer in Trainwreck lol
It's more than that. Ryan Reynolds complained about him during red notice
Interestingly, there were plans to make a spin-off of Hobbs & Shaw with the characters of Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart, It is not surprising that that movie only remained an idea, less when Hart is close friend of The Rock.
I know it’s cool to hate on the Rock. But pretty sure that was for the Fast movies. Diesel and Statham had the exact same thing. Also the “even hit” part you said is def not true
Contracts for movies are rarely cookie cutter deals
Is there an actual reliable source on that? He played a pretty damn big heel through WrestleMania.
Here, here, here.
Unsure if you consider them valid, but he seemingly based it on Vin Diesel's (which in his case seems to have been his sister's idea to keep him from getting hurt, instead of avoiding damage to his pride).
He used to allow it, but he hinges his movie appearances (aside from Get Smart) on never getting in a position of loss. It’s extremely obvious in Black Adam, where he keeps being some super badass who never takes a hit even when he was theoretically giving up his powers.
If he's being tapped to play an actual villain (and not a anti-hero like Black Adam) then I sincerely doubt he would include a clause where he can't lose or get hurt.
And it's not like he'd never do it - like that guy said, he was a big bad in WWE for the last 4 months, and definitely took a lot of hits and damage, even while still looking strong.
Also changed his position on the card after fans asked for a different outcome, and he could've just stuck through it.
I feel like it has to be a little bit of pride in Vin Diesel's case, he could have honoured his sisters wishes by having a stunt guy do the majority of his fight scenes (or at least during fight scenes where he takes a beating) works better for the drama of the film, ensures his stuntman gets work in each film, and stops him from getting hurt - win win for everyone.
Learn to read sources. GVS cites Wall Street Journal as its source. Hype Beast cites The Mirror. The Mirror cites Wall Street Journal and a Tik Tok influencer who is a news junky, not a journalist or industry insider. The Wall Street journal only refers to the Fast franchise.
Essentially a TikTok creator posted a rumor and the news ran with it, no one actually verified if it was true.
Stop with this reddit urban legend bs. He got beat up in many movies
Terrell Suggs literally breaks his arm in Ballers. This is bullshit.
Idris Elba kicked both his and Statham's asses in Hobbs and Shaw.
He literally got his ass kicked in Fast 7. Lost to statham and broke his arm.
Agreed, this might be one of the least believable “leaks” we’ve gotten in awhile
After his power play at DC and the clashing of egos between him and Vin on the Fast franchise. I doubt Marvel would even consider getting him in the MCU.
What article? I read one awhile back about fast and furious issues, but is there a new one? Dude looks like he has ego issues.
At least Norton is a great actor
think it’s worth noting that the rock trademarked ‘Rockpocalypse’ a month ago too..
Mind you, live-action X-men has BARELY begun development and yall already talking Apocalypse???
Time to write the script for Dark Phoenix while we’re at it.
Third time is the charm!
Oh god, I'm so sick of the Dark Phoenix saga at this point. If the MCU goes for it, I'll find whoever is responsible and slap them for it.
If Simon Kinberg is still around, then it's him that's you'll be looking for, man has an obsession with the Dark Phoenix saga but doesn't seem to understand it at all, kind of like Zack Snyder and Batman, or Zach Snyder and Superman, or Zach Snyder and a camera.
Same, if they’re going to do it save it for much later in the adaptation when whoever they get to play Jean Grey wants to quit, like movie 6 or 7.
Gotta have that third movie story planned out already
I am sure that Kinburger learned on his mistakes and ready for a third chance to make the same Phoenix movie with the same quotes.
Well, every x-men movies must lead to Dark Phoenix somehow.
I’m glad they already kinda did that with Wanda so they don’t even try it with Jean until like 5-10 years
Only if they get Simon Kinberg in for a 3rd attempt.
It's bound to be good THIS time.
I would be fine with a Dark Phoenix story if it's treated like Thanos for The Infinity Saga. It should be a massive, overarching story that spans a decade without being shoved in your face the whole time. By the time it would pay off, it would be something like 2035, a full 16 years after the Fox Dark Phoenix movie.
That said, we have so many other stories we can explore.
As the B plot in the first movie
That's why I don't believe any scoops for things like xmen or secret wars or some movie that isn't actively in preproduction.
Do any of these movies have scripts or directors? How would any casting choices or narrative decisions be anywhere close to accurate; we don't even know what's going on with Blade. You can look at almost any movie and the writers and directors always talk about how they had so much freedom to do what they wanted, which is pretty counter to Marvel wants this or Disney wants that.
Kang Rama Tut can lead into Apocalypse
Not that I think this is happening in any way. But seeing as X-Men is rumored to start being worked on, I think its possible the movie comes out prior to Secret Wars and the supposed reboot. In which case, I could actually see the movie being a take on Age of Apocalypse. Where it's all in an alternate reality that essentially gets erased after SW.
But again, I don't think that's happening. And I don't want Dwayne Johnson anywhere near the MCU right now.
To quote Dwayne Johnson himself, this is the biggest piece of dogshit that I've ever heard.
Next week: BIG SCOOP FOR SUBSCRIBERS
Posted Scoop: Marvel has been thinking about casting Jenna Ortega as Mister Sinister :)
I could see her as Misster Sinister. /s just in case people are unaware
I mean, there is actually a Mrs. Sinister and his actual wife Mother Rightous...
Rejected scooper on Twitter reposts the “Subscriber exclusives” 20 min after they are posted by MTTSH/CWGST and 90% of the time it’s a floozy.
@MarvellousLeaks does the same. These leaks are so stupid but i look forward to reading them everyday lol
Yeah I’m not paying 5.99/month for an exclusive about “That A-List actor is considered to play that character in a movie that’s still in the development phase”.
The movie hasn’t even been confirmed so it is just guesses at this point.
MTTSH basically makes people pay for guesses lol
Big Scoop or Shot of Poop?
NEW SCOOP
“Marvel is considering making a movie featuring a Marvel Comics character with the objective of making some money.”
The hierarchy of power in the MCU is about to change
In fairness, it did for DC. Just not the way he wanted.
Let me see the Rock in a REALLY good and serious acting role and I’ll consider it. Form-wise, I believe he could do it but that’s about it 😂💀
I think he can act, but chooses not to.
Agreed. He's prioritized being a brand over everything else
His latest WWE return proved this. He was legitimately very very good.
He can do it. I know it’s difficult but he’s latest heel final boss gimmick is WWE has been sensational.
It’s kinda crazy how quick he went from doing his absolute worst work (half the crowd chant ass the other half chant hole face schtick) into be a legitimately amazing heel
he’s extremely talented i just think he made poor creative choices
Final Boss has been unbelievably good.
Tbf I don't think Apocalypse requires good acting.
Then why did they hire Oscar Isaac ? Like just to get 1 shot of him being Egyptian? I think there’s a nuance to apocalypse that requires more than the build.
Why wouldn’t it? If that’s the case, why wouldn’t any character require good acting?
That’s so wrong. Apocalypse wants his mutants to join his cause willingly. He should be sympathetic.
That's what i thought until i read the Krakoa era X-books. He carries the entire X of Swords event on his back, and has several powerful moments in other books. This made me re-evaluate the way i saw the character. Even excluding all the new stuff, there's still a gravitas and weight of history that punctuates his every word. https://www.kotaku.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/24/gwwnbckfa2yvl6jz2p0v-scaled.jpg?resize=999,1536
you're sure about that ? not everyone can play a character that can be ridiculous. you need a real talent for apocalypse.
He is a major villain, not some goon. You definitely need someone with acting chops to play him.
Yeah have him do the mocap and that’s it lol
