Skip lagging the last flight (long layover)

Question

Hi, Have anyone tried to skip the last leg of a 2 stop flight if there is a 13 hours layover?

My flight is DOH-> DFW 13 hours layover DFW->SAN (Then I was gonna book a separate flight SAN->PHX)

Can I skip DFW->SAN and fly DFW->PHX

Yes, but keep in mind that if DOH->DFW is delayed, they can (and likely will) rebook you on an itinerary that takes you to SAN - not necessarily through DFW. You also can't book the flight DFW-PHX on American or they'll automatically cancel one of the itineraries, as it's not possible for you to both fly DOH-DFW-SAN while also flying DFW-PHX in between them.

You will probably be ok, but if a delay occurs on doh-dfw you might be scrambling.

As long as it’s the last flight of your itinerary.

Or can I just ask them to cancel the last leg and request a refund if its refundable

Doesn’t work like that
