Ali Wong Tells the Cute Story of How Her Relationship with Bill Hader Started
Ali Wong revealed how Bill Hader pursued her and ultimately ended up sparking a romantic relationship! The pair have been dating for over a year, though their exact romantic timeline hasn’t been made public by them.
During a string of sold-out comedy shows at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre, Ali told a story of a man who was interested in her romantically.

Ali shared (via Rolling Stone), “I get a phone call from this guy who I met at a dinner party in the past, and he got my number from a mutual friend. He was like, ‘Hey, I just happened to hear the news about your divorce, and I’ve had a crush on you forever. I actually told my best friend years ago that you were my dream girl, and I know it sounds crazy, but I want you to be my girlfriend.’”
She continued, telling the man, “I was like, ‘I just paid $25 [for the dating app]. You seem really nice, but I gotta get my money’s worth.’”
She then told the audience that she left for a European vacation, and the man ended up sending flowers to every hotel she stayed in throughout her trip!
Her female friends thought this was a really kind and sweet gesture, but her male friends did not like it.
“That’s how cheap and lazy men have become. When a fellow man commits any act of kindness, any romantic gesture, it must be a symptom of an undiagnosed mental illness,” Ali continued.
Ali then brought Bill out on stage and confessed he’s the man she was referring to in the story!
“All I have to say is, Ali Wong is off the market,” Bill said on stage.
