The 65th game of the IPL 2024 tournament will showcase a showdown between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati at 7:30 PM IST. Rajasthan Royals are currently in second place on the points table, while Punjab Kings are at the bottom.
Rajasthan Royals have won eight out of twelve matches they've played this season, while Punjab Kings have secured victories in four out of twelve matches.
Avesh delivered the penultimate over with a back-of-length delivery. Curran anticipated the ball well and executed a clean swing, resulting in a maximum six runs. This was a captain's knock from Curran tonight. Ashutosh then stepped up and swatted the ball over long on for a six, leveling the game. He calmly took a single to fine leg, securing the victory and finishing off the game.
RR 144/9 (20)
PBKS 145/5 (18.5)
In the second over bowled by Chahal, Curran confidently executes a sweep shot, resulting in a boundary. Following this impressive shot, Curran manages to secure a couple of singles as the Royals fielders display their strong ground fielding skills by preventing any potential doubles.
Avesh Khan starts off the day with an impressive over. He delivers a full and wide ball, tempting Rossouw to take a swing, but Jaiswal makes a fantastic low catch at point. Avesh's delivery is spot on, causing the new batter Shashank Singh to miss the ball completely and prompting the umpire to quickly raise his finger for LBW.
Prabhsimran confidently advances down the track to face Boult, hitting a powerful shot for a boundary. However, Boult quickly retaliates with a precise delivery, causing Prabhsimran to mistime his shot and ultimately get caught by Chahal off a top edge.
Chahar to Parag, who starts with a single as PBKS increases the pressure on RR. Parag quickly gets back on strike with another single. Two more singles follow. Parag attempts to pull the delivery but fails to make a connection.
Harshal delivers the first ball to Kohler-Cadmore, who drives it straight down the middle for a boundary! He then slices the next delivery to point for no run. Two consecutive dot balls follow. The next ball is a full-toss that Kohler-Cadmore mistimes, resulting in another dot ball.
FOUR! Samson expertly pulls the ball over deep square for a boundary. The next delivery results in a dot ball as the ball narrowly misses the outside edge. Samson then drives the ball on the backfoot through the covers for another FOUR!
Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Sanju Samson(w/c), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Rovman Powell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal
Punjab Kings (Playing XI): Prabhsimran Singh, Jonny Bairstow, Rilee Rossouw, Shashank Singh, Jitesh Sharma(w), Sam Curran(c), Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh
Sanju Samson: We'll bat first in these conditions. This is a second home for us, we have spend quite a bit of time here. We spent two days to assess on whether there is dew, and there isn't any. The team, the batting and bowling unit are doing great. Everyone is chill and we are excited to come out and play a great game of cricket. I'd be lying if I say no, the camp looks a lot more relaxed. We'll miss Jos and Kohler-Cadmore comes in, and we might have Fereira as an impact sub later.
Sam Curran: Tonight we play a really good team, and we can spoil a few campaigns now and finish with some pride. We've had a really good squad but some of those games we didn't win the big moments. We are about 2-3 wins away from qualifying. Tonight, we play a good side and I believe in character, I certainly don't want to lose tonight and hopefully I can rub that off on the players. We've lost a few players, KG is out and Nathan Ellis gets a game. Brar also comes back into the line-up.

Guwahati, known for its shiny black-soil pitches, has recently been a high-scoring venue despite its relatively small 70-meter square boundaries. In the last four T20 matches held here, the average first-inning total has been just over 213. Parag anticipates a similar trend this time around, with dew playing a crucial role in his opinion. The impact of dew was evident in the last T20I played at this venue, where India's score of 222/3 was not sufficient to secure a victory against Australia, led by Glenn Maxwell.
