Upload speed is too low on private trackers

Question

Can someone help me understand why my upload speed is lower in private trackers compared to public ones?

I have relatively crappy internet speeds but it's even worse on private trackers. When I download from 1337x or other public trackers my seeding speed usually peaks at around 3-6MiB/sec, whereas on private trackers it rarely goes above 1MiB/sec and never above 1.5 . My download speed is consistent everywhere at 12-14MiB, it only affects seeding.

Are peers dropping me for seedboxes? What's happening?

Unless you have >250M symmetrical fiber internet, earning upload in PT is difficult. The top 5-10 uploaders are using premium seedbox (like Andy10gbit) and automated RSS scripts to capture the newly published seeds and make sure they stay at the top of the swarms. The majority of upload traffic is provided by these guys (especially for new uploads). Just don't think about competing with those guys, buy huge HDD (the more the better) and a low power consumption NAS, leaving it 7x24, and you will be fine.

PS: These dedicated server bros really have ridiculously good speed and connectivity, they can beat me, the original uploader, by at least 3-4 times more upload traffic, and I am seeding with an (average) seedbox too.

So it is because peers are dropping me for the seedboxes?
Damn that sucks. I've got 10TB of space but achieving good ratio seems impossible. Currently have 150 torrents seeding and none of them are actually seeding. Even when I snatch it with an RSS script the moment it's announced on the feed I manage to upload no more than 25GB.

I'm on a number of private trackers. One in particular I joined in 2016. I am currently seeding between 400 and 450 torrents on this one tracker, totaling about 8TB in size. But in those 8-9 years I've been on this one, I have uploaded less than 10TB even though I have been seeding everything I have gotten since day 1.

The only real downtime I had was when in August of 2023 that I switched from a Windows 7 seedbox PC in my living room to a proxmox baremetal machine, with multiple debian server VMs running qbittorrent-nox.

By comparison, I'm also running a separate VM with a separate qbittorrent-nox install, sharing Joe Rogan episodes. Since 3/10/2024, I have uploaded about 9TB of Joe Rogan episodes. Also since that date, I have shared 2TB of another public torrent.
I have uploaded about the same TB in two months as I have in 8-9 years. People want that joe rogan!

Now as for private trackers, I could get much more upload if I downloaded more of the "freebies" or "free leech" stuff, or gained enough "bonus points" to spend towards upload credit.

But I refuse to pay money for some seedbox somewhere to "compete" with these 10GBPS fiber guys or whatever. I'd much rather do it myself, and despite not uploading all that much, I can still get what I want. Just get all the freeleech stuff and use points if they have it. I never cared about being a "0day seeder" or whatever you would call it, although I guess I could start doing that now that I have added 80TB to my proxmox! :D

If your software configurations are not messed up, that's it.

Just do long term seeding and use the credit system to convert points to upload. Also if you have more than one PT site, moving resources between each other can earn lots of upload too.

So anyway as I was saying, don't be tricked into paying money for a seedbox. Thank you.

Even when I snatch it with an RSS script the moment it's announced on the feed

By then the seedboxes have probably grabbed it and are seeding it.

Unless it's a site that only has an RSS feed, you'll be much better off using autobrr or similar tools that monitor the IRC announce channel and will grab things the second they're uploaded to the site. RSS can be delayed by quite a while, depending on how often the site updates the feed, and how often your client is refreshing the feed.
