Had 6 Miles On the Trip Meter This Morning

Wife said go ahead out of no where. I grabbed my stuff, checked the oil and tires, and boogied. First ride of the season. Had some tunes rocking and my chicken straps are a little wider than they were yesterday. I'm sure I looked like an idiot bobbing my head to the beat (first ride with a Cardo).

Today was a good day.

Ride safe everyone.

Went for a 300 mile round trip for some pancakes yesterday morning on the thruxton.

The pancakes were good. The mountain road was better.

How are longer rides on the Thruxton? I love how they look but they seem like they'd be pretty uncomfortable for longer rides.

Comfort depends on the rider. I was perfectly happy curled up on the thruxton. Legs hugging the tank and on the balls of my feet, keeps the forearms and wrists in a good position.

Maintained 85-90 up the mountain roads. Spent a lot of time in the 90-100 range coming back down.

Felt good after the ride. Ended up going on a 5k run that evening and did one this morning. Nothing was stiff or sore. I’m 49 for perspective.

As far as the thruxton 900, this was the first time taking it up through Payson, which has some decent elevation change of about 4,000 feet (Phoenix is about 1k above sea level, Payson is just over 5k). It took it like a champ. Never felt like I was running out of throttle. It’s not the fastest for accelerating, but it can maintain a nice speed all day long, with plenty of passing power even at highway speeds.

Awesome. Did 100 miles for a hot dog last year!

Strips......chicken strips!

Only 6 miles?

At 30 Mph you’re looking at only a ~14 minute ride?

u/MackofallTrades avatar

Lol. That's the mileage from when I winterized it to the first ride of the season.

Just did the oil this week. Next week is new progressive fork springs.

Ohhh you put on 50 miles! Nice!

I did 120 today - To work, 15 min, home from work 100 miles through the mountains.

That is the best way home!

My commute is 100 miles round trip, bought a bike last Wednesday evening and have almost 500 miles on it already…

Damn. Lucky and unlucky.

Kids hurt the riding time for me.

I also have 2 kids, 2 year old and a 4 year old. I almost exclusively commute to work on a bike, and take the slow way home, get my car, then grab the kids from daycare.
