Did anyone else read that Kokoa Restaurant from Aruba Beach Club group is buying Matthews restaurant at CDM? Inquiring minds need to know.
Thanks

I had heard rumblings about it a couple of months ago.
Just yesterday I saw that it was brought up again and was all over the CDM FB group page.
Matthews had been wonderful and then post covid, not so wonderful.
The most common thing said about Matthews was that it was inconsistent.
If indeed KOKOA is the buyer, (that is what I heard a few months ago) I hope that they can transform the place into a wonderful restaurant again.
Yes, we received communication from CDM management that July 1st is the transition day. Matthews has not been great but we are hearing mixed reviews about Kokoa. We will be there in July and will see how it goes. Nothing can compare to Ricardo. But things change and Matthew's owner probably received an offer he could not refuse from Aruba Wine & Dine. We hope for the best.
We stopped going to Matthew’s some years ago. I personally only went for rib night which was good until it wasn’t. We followed the owner Stephan from Rumba downtown to Matthew’s years ago. It was great for awhile but agree it went downhill for sure.
Thankyou for clarifying the new ownership guys. We felt Kokoa needed some additional help at breakfast. We liked that Matthew's was a different vibe. We love ABC and CDM, Guess we will find out on our next trip. Hopefully some forum members will get us some additional Intel on the changeover when it happens by then.

We are here now, at Wednesday’s owners meeting we were told there would be no change to the staff or menu when the new group takes over. I suggested they do the same happy hour as kokoa with all drinks at half off, including what they consider premium brands like Tito’s. We enjoyed Kokoa for breakfast and have had many great lunches at Matthews during our 3 weeks here.
Thanks for the update Harmony. Good to hear they are keeping same staff. We second your happy hour suggestion too. We enjoyed both Kokoa and Matthews for breakfast. Cant wait to check it out.
