MLB PrizePicks Predictions Today

Shohei Ohtani – More Than 1.5 Total Bases

Ohtani has been a man amongst boys in the MLB this season, sporting an inhumane .406 ISO to right-handed pitching. Tonight, he faces Graham Ashcraft, who has given up a .213 ISO to lefties this season while only striking out 17.5% of them. Ashcraft’s best skill is his groundball ability, but Ohtani only has a 28.2% groundball rate against righties this year. Ohtani projects for 2.9 total bases in the RotoGrinders projections tonight, but I expect him to knock one out of the park.

  • PrizePicks PLAY: More Than 1.5 Total Bases

Bobby Witt – More Than 9 Fantasy Points

If Ohtani isn’t the best play on the slate, it’s Bobby Witt Jr. Ross Stripling has never been able to strike out many bats, but he’s having one of his worst seasons in recent memory. The benefit to going with fantasy points as opposed to total bases is the high likelihood that Witt will steal a base or two if he gets on. Against a low-strikeout pitcher like Stripling, the odds are high. Witt projects for more than 10 points tonight in the RotoGrinders projections.

  • PrizePicks PLAY: More Than 9 FPTS

Bryce Elder – Less Than 17.5 Pitching Outs

This one is a strong play for multiple reasons. Firstly, Bryce Elder projects for only 15.42 outs in the RotoGrinders projections with a 70.58% win rate in the MLB Fantasy Pick’em Tool for PrizePicks, the highest on the slate. However, Kevin Roth’s weather report also has this game listed as Yellow/Orange, with the potential for a delay in the middle or later in the game. Elder will likely get knocked out of this one before he reaches 18 outs regardless, but we may get the added help of weather kicking him out early as well.
