Apartment help

Hi! I'm new here! I'm a graduating high school senior (18) and I need some serious help. I'm moving to Chico in about a month with a friend for college (we already committed to our separate schools [I'm attending Silicon Valley's online program- It's the best option for how i learn]) and we are in need of an apartment. Somebody already in the city signed the lease for the townhouse/apartment we were viewing (I'm not 100% sure which it was) and it was one of the few apartments we could get. Her parents have horrid credit and my dad just bought a house with his new wife, so neither of us have co-signers. Neither of us have rental or credit history due to our respective situations. We do have a little over 6.5k in combined savings just for an apartment. I'm willing to answer any additional question someone who can help might have. Is there anyone with a lease we could take over or anyone who knows about an apartment complex or house we could rent with our situation?
