Released in 1997, J.P. Dutta’s Border is still considered one of the most heartbreaking war movies in Indian cinema. Starring an ensemble of A-list stars like Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Pooja Bhatt, Rakhee Gulzar, Tabu and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, the story is about the historic battle of Longewala, which saw 120 Indian soldiers defend their desert outpost against a much larger Pakistani force throughout the night. With unwavering determination, they held their ground until the arrival of the Indian Air Force the next morning.

Released in 1964, Haqeeqat starred Dharmendra, Priya Rajvansh, Vijay Anand, Sanjay Khan and Sudhir. It is the story about how a war platoon lost in the Himalayas during the 1962 Sino-Indian battle is presumed dead. Fortunately, they were rescued by the local tribe of Ladakh. Captain Bahadur Singh and Angmo heroically held their positions to allow their fellow soldiers to retreat.
