The teams are officially in for the Round 10 Thursday night clash between Gold Coast and Carlton in Darwin.
It’s the first time that Geelong has played at Darwin in a V/AFL game and they’ll go in undermanned against a hungry Gold Coast side.
Veterans Mitch Duncan, Rhys Stanley and Tom Hawkins has been rested, while Jeremy Cameron is out concussed.
For Gold Coast, they’ve also managed first-round picks Jake Rogers and Jed Walter while co-captain Jarrod Witts and Nick Holman will also sit out.
SEN Sportsday’s Kane Cornes and Brad Johnson reacted to the teams being released on Wednesday night, with the duo shocked by Gold Coast resting some key names in such a winnable game.
Cornes: “They’re protecting their two youngsters, Witts has been managed and Holman has also been managed.
“This is a disaster, really.”
Johnson: “You think with the Cats not having Cameron or Hawkins, you're throwing everything at this one.
“They're saying managed, but there's got to be a little bit more to this because with the Cats outs, you would throw your best team possible and not manage anyone for this one.”
Cornes: “Neale is in, Conway the ruckman finally gets to take over and should not be removed from this side for the rest of the year, Bowes and Bruhn are also in
“Cameron and Hawkins are out as you mentioned, Stanley says managed, but he would have to have been dropped. Mitch Duncan managed as well.
“Interesting selection moves.”
