James Rodriguez has teased a potential return to Everton as he faces leaving his sixth club in five years. The 32-year-old Colombian joined the Toffees in 2020 under Carlo Ancelotti, gaining cult hero status at Goodison Park before being sidelined by Rafael Benitez. Since leaving Everton, Rodriguez has played for Al-Rayyan, Olympiacos, and Sao Paulo.
Currently out of favor at Sao Paulo, he has played just six minutes under new manager Luis Zubeldia and may soon depart. Brazilian reporter Valentin Furlan suggests Rodriguez prefers a return to Europe. An Everton fan account tagged Rodriguez, urging, “Come home @jamesrodriguez10.” Rodriguez responded with, “Last dance?” accompanied by a blue heart and laughing emojis. Fans were thrilled, with one offering to pay his flight ticket and another volunteering to pick him up.
In 2014, Rodriguez was a hot property after a stellar World Cup, choosing Real Madrid over PSG and Manchester City for “glory.” He won multiple titles with Madrid and spent two years on loan at Bayern Munich before joining Everton, where he scored six goals and made eight assists in 26 appearances.
