How far in are you? What do you mean by the basics?

Like we don't have enough to go to give advice

i did one semester last year before taking a year off due to a family matter. the most i know is python, a bit of c# and a bit of javascript. thats what i consider the basics atleast, so my knowledge is very minimal. i just enrolled to my cc again to atleast try and refresh my memory on it because i exaggerated, im not dumb as fuck and i actually passed my classes and all, however me and my friends were speaking and they said it might be worth it to switch majors because the field is competitive

Well yes the field is super competitive because it's a low barrier to entry high reward field (bachelors in computer science might make more than phds in other stem fields)

That said, it sounds like you're literally one semester which would have been an intro class then

Yeah you could switch to something else if you think you'd be better at it but you're not super far behind

My question to you is why do you want the specific career path since you're early enough in that you could switch if you wanted to without heavy loss

It's an extremely competitive major, it attracts a lot of students since it's cool and appeals to lots of people on the surface.

You have to level up and start attending office hours and tutoring centers..

If you actually like cs and coding and are willing to learn things outside of class you’ll be totally fine. There is a lot of competition in the industry but that’s why you just need to make yourself stand out through either projects or networking. A lot of cs majors won’t do these things and by simply just having a couple projects you’re proud of and can talk about makes a huge difference.

ILL KEEP THIS IN MIND. THANK YOU SO MUCH. now i just have to figure out some projects to do that’ll stand out and aren’t overused😩

just trust me: https://www.w3schools.com/

it has everything from python, sql, c++, c, html, css, javascript, php, r and also teaches u DSA which youll need for interviews. its also free.

take my advice, learn one language you like, and master DSA with it. theyll let u choose what language u want to do your technical interviews in. Dont try learning too many languages at once.

i literally fucking love u omg OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH

np 😂

Yes, but you shouldn't feel too bad about it, because people who are genuinely intelligent are also cooked.
