There are, sadly, very few moments on Set the Tone that don’t feel phoned in, awkward, or outright bored.
Seeing that Ghostface was so invested evolving his sound from album to album in the 2010s, It's hard to understand why he decided to go back and make a project that it sounds like he made in 2006. Maybe he considers himself semi-retired at this point and isn't as motivated as he once was to push his music forward, but hip-hop has proven before that going back to what once made you great is not always a bad idea.

New Ghostface Killah record in 2024, surely this will be great!
This record actually starts pretty okay, however it then proceeds to fall off a cliff the longer the record goes on for. The second half of this record is genuinely laughably bad. I don't understand where the production or lyrical quality went for Ghostface but it is not evident at all on this record. first 7 tracks beside Kilo In The Safe i was ready to say "this is underrated" but god damn champion sound and cape fear are fucking awful. and the worst part is that ghostface killah is never the problem
