May 2024 update on Openreach full-fibre roll-out
It has been a busy month for tracking the Openreach full-fibre roll-out with the average footprint added each day working out at 16,039 premises a day taking the total footprint to 14,061,052 premises passed. The big jump of 481,178 premises in a month almost matches the 496,000 added 3 months ago, suggesting that there is a big rush of ready for service FTTP premises at the end of each financial quarter.
Openreach has talked of delivering 1 million premises a quarter and it does look they did that, and we expect a similar pattern to apply for our next 3 reports in June, July and August. The pattern is likely to be a fairly low figure in June as work is done in the roll-out but the focus being on getting fibre spines rolled out, in July the amount of RFS premises will start to pick up and then in August another big total as work from the previous two months get tested and released ready for service.
Number of Openreach FTTP premises passed as of 12th May 2024 | Age of property Based on ONS date of introduction of postcode |

470,396 | 2020 to end of 2025 | 6,419 | 81.74% (+0.03) |
The Openreach full-fibre service network now covers 43.38% of UK premises, up from 41.94% a month ago.
In terms of the ambition to have 25 million premises ready for service with FTTP in 2026, another 11 million need to be built and if the pace can be maintained we expect to be reporting on it from our figures between 6th December 2026 and 17th April 2027.

Para 2: "Openreach is has talked of" (lose the 'is'.)
IS that was result of a rewrite now removed.
I must say, if you would have said just 3 years ago we would have ~85% gigabit availability UK-wide I would have laughed, this is great to see. Personally I probably don't need more than 300, but dang, I'm pleased to see it available for the bigger households and heavy lifting users
