The Zutons - The Big Decider (2024).
They’re back after a 16 year gap between albums. Produced by Ian Broudie and Nile Rodgers, it’s a good comeback. I prefer their earlier albums but it’s great to hear something new from them.
EDIT: Just realised I’ve got the 2 disc deluxe cd and the 2nd cd is live versions of the studio tracks. For me the live versions are better, with more energy to them.
Imho a golden era in the evolution of children’s entertainment (tv) that many of us on the forum witnessed and value and have cherished memories as carefree kids.
Banana Splits
Mr Benn
Camberwick Green
Trumpton
The Clangers
Play School
Play Away
Animal Magic
Crackerjack
ITV Wrestling
I could go on…(but won’t!)
and many many more iconic children’s entertainment programmes in the golden age of children’s tv was the sixties and seventies. Fabulously influential and such a welcome counterfoil to the endless days of unfettered play and exploration in our local environment eg. Brooks, woods, fields, moorland etc.
A unique time of life! So simple but so satisfying as an innocent and carefree child.
You can’t mention Trumpton and Camberwick Green without mentioning Chigley
@Cmax Currently watching Fleetwood Mac Live in Boston (2004) on Sky Arts and fantastically impressed by the band (a bit before my time as I was born in their formation year) esp. Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham (some extraordinary guitar solos), and perhaps a bit exuberant in my response above (but no excuses), after having just shared a quality bottle of Rioja Réserva with my wife at dinner (and the way part 2 is going, probably another bottle very soon), so I am in a good mood on a Friday evening after a busy week at work.
Happy weekend all and may the fair weather continue until Monday (at least!).
That’s a great list, very happy memories
Absolutely!! (I did say I could go on but won’t)
Such fun and entertaining times indeed - we are truly privileged to have experienced such a transformative era in children’s entertainment imho.
The Wombles
Jackanory
Crystal Tips and Alistair
and many many others …
Should have a classic tv shows thread.
Plenty of Dad’s Army fans here too by the looks of the ‘TV threads’ but yes I agree - kids tv of the 60s and 70s would be good for memory recollection and a bit of fun / nostalgia.
That’s a great Friday night, enjoy the second bottle, have a great weekend.
Already on it - no more Rioja (was last bottle! ) on a TTD Primitivo which is pretty tasty . Best wishes for an enjoyable weekend too - relax and enjoy however you choose to spend it.
Bob Dylan - New Morning.
Tom Waits - Mule Variations
Stonkingly good.
