Ryan Day’s Son, QB RJ Day, Took Recruiting Visits to Pair of Southeastern Powers
Ohio State’s Ryan Day is very familiar with the modern recruiting cycle from the coach’s vantage point. With his son RJ Day’s recruitment starting to heat up, he’s on the other side of the equation as a father.
RJ, who is finishing up his freshman season at St. Francis De Sales High School in Columbus, is a member of the class of 2027. The quarterback received an early offer from Boston College last year, although that was under former coach Jeff Hafley, who recently departed for a job with the Green Bay Packers. Marshall reportedly offered the freshman in January as well.
If Day winds up being a legitimate FBS prospect, he’ll get plenty of attention in the years to come. Ryan Day discussed his son’s early recruitment during an appearance on the “Morning Juice” radio show, and shared that his son recently had the chance to check out both Clemson and South Carolina.
“I get an opportunity to be around some great people in the sport. So more importantly just try to expose him to different people and connections and see it from a different lens,” Day said. “He gets to see what happens at Ohio State, but to go down and visit at Clemson, visit South Carolina. Dabo [Swinney] and Shane [Beamer] both do an unbelievable job down there. So just try to get him around great people.”
If RJ develops into a legitimate Power 4 level player and wants to play for his father, one would have to assume that Ohio State would have a major edge in his recruitment, but it is certainly valuable for him to get out and see how other programs work.
