After attending Monday’s Syracuse City School Board meeting, the board president told CNY Central she does not want to speak on camera.

Following Board President Tamica Barnett’s social media post last week, CNY Central wanted to inquire about what the post meant.

The post on Facebook came after CNY Central’s Matt Mulcahy spoke during the public portion of a school board meeting last week. Mulcahy went to the board to tell its members they are not barred in any way from answering reporter questions about relevant news stories.

CNY Central wanted to know if the board president sees any value in hearing the opinions of others outside the system.

As for her post on social media, Barnett said, “My own personal posts have nothing to do with the school district."

Despite Barnett insisting her post has nothing to do with the school district, it does specifically reference the Syracuse City School District.

In an email response to CNY Central's requests to the district communications team for an interview with Superintendent Anthony Davis or any of the school board members, the district says they would prefer to move forward by answering questions in writing.
